Speaking to The Times, Sadiq Khan said, "I love sport and have seen the benefits of hosting sporting events. But I thought what we should do is commission a report to assess the economic impact of these events." Khan emphasized that his long - term goal has always been to solidify London's status as a global sports center. "My ambition has always been to make London the world's sports capital and then cement our position. Whether it's boxing, NFL games, or MLB events; we're in talks with the NBA to bring basketball games to London. I think this is really important.
