Compound bow archery has come a long way to become an Olympic event, and its journey has been filled with recognition and support. Since the Archery World Cup was founded in 2006, recurve bows and compound bows have been treated equally in terms of participation eligibility, promotion, and prize - money settings,

 

The compound bow event has been part of the World Games since 2017 and will continue to be featured in the next World Games this August. This has provided a platform for the development of compound bow archery, helping it gain more popularity. Now, with its inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, it marks a significant milestone for the sport.

 

Jose Perurena, President of the International World Games Association, said, "This is a proud moment for the IWGA and the World Games. The inclusion of compound bow archery in the Olympics proves that our event platform offers opportunities for sports to develop, increase their visibility, and ultimately reach the Olympic stage. We congratulate the World Archery Federation and all the athletes who have worked hard to promote this event to gain global recognition." This recognition from international organizations not only affirms the efforts of the archery community but also looks forward to the exciting competition that the compound bow event will bring to the 2028 Olympics.
